When I was in middle school and high school, I was the girl who walked around the track when we ran the mile in gym. I was always the girl who "wasn't a runner", who "just wasn't good at sports". As I got older, I began to think… "why not me?" I didn't understand how I was 24 years old and I had never run a single mile! Depressing.

So my journey began. I started by power walking daily, and lifting weights. And I realized something very important.. the only thing holding me back was myself. I started running. Five times a week I got out on the trails in Houston or on the treadmill at the gym, however I could get it in- I did. My life was becoming healthier, happier, more purposeful. The lighter the shoe, the longer my runs-until I was running 5ks as my daily run..something the old me could never have conceived. With my husband's support and guidance, (him being an old pro with all things athletic) I challenged myself to faster and faster personal bests, breaking down any doubts I might have had about me 'being an athlete'.

In January of 2013 I decided that integrating fitness into my life was the key to my overall happiness and my calling to help others integrate wellness into their lives too. I started a fitness blog, decided to start teaching yoga, added heavy lifting to my daily runs and away I went! I started getting a lot of positive responses and I realized that I was striking a chord. Other people wanted to be motivated, inspired, and uplifted in their personal fitness journeys.

I'm not a marathoner, and I'm not a figure competitor--but I am healthier and happier than I have ever been. My enthusiasm is boundless and my passion for running, hiking, exploring, and adventuring cannot be sated. I am thrilled to align my passion with Skora's as we both continue down the path to greater running and fitness for all!
